I've never read one of his books and I don't think a childhood author inspired me in the same way, but after reading your blog post I rather wish I'd had that influence. Thinking about it, perhaps illustrated fairytales were my inspiration - I've always been partial to a clear structure, magic/fantasy, romance/love, and good overcoming evil!Paeony Lewishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13129555451791248798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3758609568631190155.post-72038721309528423622017-08-31T06:55:19.586+01:002017-08-31T06:55:19.586+01:00Hope you enjoy them :-)Hope you enjoy them :-)Jane Clarkehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01361379190770989657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3758609568631190155.post-22569558352603517162017-08-31T06:54:24.615+01:002017-08-31T06:54:24.615+01:00"My Family and Other Animals' is a good p..."My Family and Other Animals' is a good place to start.Jane Clarkehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01361379190770989657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3758609568631190155.post-61341344772126240502017-08-30T22:10:23.304+01:002017-08-30T22:10:23.304+01:00I think I need to give these a read too! :)I think I need to give these a read too! :)Lucy Rowlandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06287658044786683327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3758609568631190155.post-48086018904230531012017-08-28T12:42:31.822+01:002017-08-28T12:42:31.822+01:00I have never read his books, I'm going to try ...I have never read his books, I'm going to try and find a copy now. :) Chitra Soundarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11459683357077199646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3758609568631190155.post-6863642601312810552017-08-27T23:09:45.707+01:002017-08-27T23:09:45.707+01:00Have to confess that when I first read the Durrell...Have to confess that when I first read the Durrell books, I skipped over the descriptions - but as an adult, I really appreciate their poetic quality.
Jane Clarkehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01361379190770989657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3758609568631190155.post-53071777371372856752017-08-26T13:30:42.282+01:002017-08-26T13:30:42.282+01:00I'm a huge fan of My Family and Other Animals ...I'm a huge fan of My Family and Other Animals - such a wonderful mixture of falling over with laughter funny moments, detailed observation of the natural world, and really lyrical descriptions of the landscape of Corfu.Emma Barneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02718171070716804800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3758609568631190155.post-77302483577580830312017-08-21T17:33:25.292+01:002017-08-21T17:33:25.292+01:00Ah we have stick insects! Thankfully my parents have loads of animals, tortoises, corn snake, rheas, so he can get his fill without it being in my garden! Although when i was young i had a 5 foot long iguana that escaped, and so i can imagine what the great Bearded Dragon chase was like.
Sallyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12759992873045228788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3758609568631190155.post-15993278441752048392017-08-21T16:09:36.499+01:002017-08-21T16:09:36.499+01:00Hope you enjoy the books!Hope you enjoy the books!Jane Clarkehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01361379190770989657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3758609568631190155.post-62725708850394472012017-08-21T09:11:15.474+01:002017-08-21T09:11:15.474+01:00Yep Sally, I'd struggle at the taxidermy, too!...Yep Sally, I'd struggle at the taxidermy, too! My younger son kept stick insects, corn snake and 2 bearded dragons - the latter ate live crickets which escaped and set up a small breeding colony somewhere at the back of the house - it sounded like a rainforest in the evenings. We had to let the bearded dragons lose for a while to catch them.
Jane Clarkehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01361379190770989657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3758609568631190155.post-28000625995735059162017-08-21T08:46:14.440+01:002017-08-21T08:46:14.440+01:00Great post Jane.
