How I wish I could attend your course; you definitely have many success stories to tell, not just for yourself but for your students, too. If it's of any interest to you, I have just started a new venture at my house by the sea in Herne Bay, Kent, where we have so far run two picture book writing weekends, taught by Rebecca Colby and have another coming up in June taught by Anita Loughrey. We also offer retreats for writers wanting to use the whole house as a self-catering, untutored getaway. It's early beginnings and so far very positive feedback from everyone. If you want to know more I'd be happy to share details. Thank you.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07792253387767302709noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3758609568631190155.post-39179003057082897922016-04-21T11:36:02.451+01:002016-04-21T11:36:02.451+01:00Thanks for that inspiring post, Malachy! It took place at the Lumb Bank Arvon centre, and my co-tutor was the very lovely Catherine Johnson.
malachy doylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14428551785118345251noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3758609568631190155.post-21839520154105501242016-04-18T13:43:57.117+01:002016-04-18T13:43:57.117+01:00I loved my week at Arvon on your course, Malachy, ...I loved my week at Arvon on your course, Malachy, and can't recommend the experience highly enough. It was obvious from the very first thing you wrote on that course - and it's hard to believe it was the very first piece of picture-book writing you'd ever done - that you were a star in the making. I'm thrilled that you've gone on to such success.
malachy doylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14428551785118345251noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3758609568631190155.post-18077974487077812272016-04-18T08:55:22.665+01:002016-04-18T08:55:22.665+01:00Wonderful memories of that course, Malachy. I always buzz off them for months after and my writing is almost always on the money. It's great to be in a different (and beautiful) environment, to be pushed out of your comfort zone, to be in the company of other writers. I can't recommend Arvon highly enough. I'm desperate to do a retreat week. Alas! I have events at the Hay Festival, Salisbury International Arts Festival and Wychwood Festival that week - I'd never have foreseen that back at Arvon. Seriously, folks, nab a space on Malachy's course, you never know where it might lead... Michelle Robinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09620246793467493696noreply@blogger.com
